Chandelier Lighting Size Guide

Proper chandelier sizing ensures visual balance within a room. Fixtures that are too small appear disconnected, while oversized fixtures can overwhelm the space.

Room-Based Size Calculation

Add the room length and width in feet. The result, in inches, provides a reliable chandelier diameter estimate.

Example: 12 ft + 14 ft = 26 inch chandelier diameter

Dining Room Placement

For dining tables, choose a chandelier that measures approximately one-half to two-thirds the table width. This creates proper proportion between the fixture and the table below.

Ceiling Height Considerations

Standard ceiling installations position the chandelier approximately 30 to 36 inches above the table surface. Higher ceilings allow slightly longer suspension.

Open Space Installations

Entryways and open rooms allow for larger fixtures. Fixture scale should reflect both ceiling height and floor area.
